Accepting this quest puts the  Samantha's Scroll effect on you, and gives you 3 temporary skills:

• Reverse Cursed Scroll - Absorbs low amounts of Forbidden Rune energy, creating a window of action.
• Scroll of Infliction - Rune Circle continues to damage Hydra's casting ability.
• Scroll of the Rainbow - Directs a massive blast of Rune Energy against Hydra.

Using the correct skill in response to the actions of Hydra makes it easier to kill him.
